Yes, I know the two stand on the different price range, so you might think it is a ridiculous comparison. From what I ve heard, It has only two gain stages, unlike BAE 1073 which has three gain stages just like original 1073.Then, even when we dont touchuse EQ of the BAE 1073 at all, is the sound of it still different from 1073MP due to their difference in number of gain stages If so, how do they sound different Is there anyone who experience the difference between them or Do you know any websites which provide audio clips about this shootout Thanks in advance P.S.
What do you think about BAE 1073MP vs. Im not a big fan of outboard EQ, but I can not sure whether its a good choice to buy these newly launched products instead of 1073MP. Imo, ams and bae are more classic sounding, aml and bla would be more clean sounding, and heritage might be more towards warm or vintage sounding. Ive also heard vintech which is hard summarize since their design has changed over multiple releases, stam which is hard to pinpoint especially if you mean either the carnhill ver or sowter ver, great river which does have 1073 tone but not quite classic sounding, some of the older DIY 1073 modules, and GAP 1073 clones which are probably the furthest from a 1073 sound (except for the new gap premier which is a lot more accurate). Right now Im a fan of the warmer heritage stuff, but that doesnt guarantee anything once you own the unit and get to try it yourself; opinions change. I have an 1073MPF and wondering how the version with the EQ compares, like the OP said, if both are set flat Does having the EQ in the path affect the tone and bring the BAE closer to a vintage 1073. Ive read that the Chandler LTD-1 is amazing and very close to the original. Great thread btw, Ive had the these same questions about different Neve style preamps for years.
